Spurs unveil unique mural to ‘Paint the Town Silver & Black'

Mural titled 'Go Spurs Go' located at AT&T Center

SAN ANTONIO – The Spurs unveiled a unique piece of art inside the AT&T Center on Sunday before their playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

San Antonio artists Nik Soupe and Shek Vega created the mural titled ‘Go Spurs Go.’ They brainstormed the concept and then got to work.

“Two days, but it was a very long two days. It was hard pounding work, sunup to sundown but we got it done,” said Vega.

“Once we started painting, it was a grueling two days, good 16-20 hour days,” said Soupe.

The mural pays homage to San Antonio’s unique art culture and to the bond the Spurs share with the city and their fans.

“It’s a good thing to see how much the Spurs have done to put San Antonio on an an international and global level,” said Vega. “To see something like street art come together in my city with my favorite team with my own artwork is fantastic.”

The mural also helped launch the Spurs’ 2016 NBA Playoffs theme, “Paint the Town Silver & Black.”

The theme will continue throughout the playoffs as additional works of art are revealed around the Alamo City.

“I feel like it’s an honor to be there and I always feel like walls come and go, but once you find a home for a wall, that always makes me feel nice,” Soupe said.

The acrylic mural is 8-foot-by-12-foot and located at the AT&T Center Plaza Level Concourse near Section 118.
