SAN ANTONIO – Local police have arrested a man they say was responsible for both a violent Olmos Park carjacking and a shooting that left a man in critical condition overnight.
The shooting and carjacking took place around 9:30 p.m. by the Thirsty Camel bar, found on the city's near North Side in the 5300 block of McCullough. The incident occurred on the Olmos Park and San Antonio borderline in a parking lot.
According to police, the 27-year-old shooting victim may have arrived in a Honda Civic with the suspected shooter. At some point, the victim was shot. Police said the man was hit once and that he’s in critical condition at University Hospital.
Police say after the shooting the suspect then carjacked a woman and took off in her vehicle.
Police picked up the suspect on Fresno Road near Thomas Edison High School around 1:15 a.m.
Authorities said the six foot tall man wearing a baseball cap and red shirt matched the description given by the woman whose car he allegedly stole.
Police say they found the victim's purse, ID, and the gun used in the shooting.
