SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested two men who they say broke into a North Side Chick Fil-A twice in one night.
Officers were called to the business, located near Loop 410 and McCullough Avenue, by a manager who got an alert after someone tampered with the alarm box.
Police say the officers noticed two men, wearing bandanas on their faces, attempting to break into the business.
They quickly found out, however, that the suspects already had been inside once.
“In the process of investigating why they were trying to get back into the building, we realized one we got that (the suspects) had left their cell phone in there,” said Sgt. James Caviness with SAPD. “So they were trying to get back in there to get their cell phone.”
The two suspects took off running but officers chased them and caught them nearby. They say both men were carrying burglary tools.
Caviness says the suspects tried to break into the safe but were unsuccessful.
Both were taken into custody and expected to be charged with burglary.
Caviness says there have been several other burglaries in the area recently in which the burglars have broken into the safes.
He said detectives will determine whether these suspects also may have ties to those crimes.
