SAN ANTONIO – Four people were killed in a wrong-way crash on the South Side late Friday night.
Witnesses told San Antonio police the driver of an SUV was speeding in the northbound lanes of the 13700 block of Applewhite Road.
Police said the driver hit another car, spun out, hit a median and ended up in the southbound lanes.
The driver of the SUV crashed head-on with an oncoming 18-wheeler, said police. The crash caused an explosion and fire, killing four people inside of the SUV.
The driver of the big rig was not hurt.
Police are investigating whether alcohol was involved.
