45 participants graduate from Bexar County Felony Drug Court

SAN ANTONIO – After overcoming a long history of substance abuse, 45 people graduated from the Bexar County Felony Drug Court on Friday.

The felony drug court is an intensive 12- to 18-month-long program for non-violent offenders with substance-abuse disorders, which serves as an alternative to jail time.

People in the program receive counseling and other services, along with help finding a job, housing, education and transportation.

Some of the graduates had family members at Friday's ceremony showing their support.

After graduation, the participants transition into the after-care phase, where they take part in drug court alumni association, which helps them build a support system.
