TODAY is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election

SAN ANTONIO – Are you registered to vote?

Today -- Tuesday, Oct. 9 -- is the last day to register in order to be eligible to vote in Texas in the Nov. 6 general election.

Here's what you need to know about registering to vote in Texas:

Check if you're registered

You can check if you're registered to vote by going to the Texas Secretary of State's website and entering your information.

The website asks you identify yourself using one of the following three sets of information:

  • Texas driver's license number and date of birth
  • Voter unique identifier and date of birth
  • Name county and date of birth to check your voter status status.

The website will tell you if your voter status is active, what precinct you're part of and any upcoming elections to prepare for.

Not registered?

You can fill out a registration application online, print out the completed application and then mail it to the voter registrar in the county where you reside.

You can also register to vote in person at your county voter registrar's office or by mail by obtaining an application from your voter registrar's office, a nearby library, government office or high school.
