SAN ANTONIO – Early voter turnout was at a record high in Bexar County Monday. Thousands of people arrived at the polls to cast their ballot during the first official day of early voting.
The Election’s Office said 35,142 people went out to the county’s polling locations. That’s a record for the first day of early voting.
Once the locations opened, long lines of people could be seen at virtually every early polling site in the county.
The Election’s Office said 3,000 people were voting per hour before noon.
Elections administrators are reminding voters that with such a historic election, there will be problems, so they’re asking everyone to be patient and civil while waiting in line.
Administrators ask people not to wear campaign shirts, buttons and hats less than 100 feet from polling locations.
Anyone who wants to cast a ballot will need to be registered and present one of seven forms of approved identification.
