Family seeking answers after man found dead on road

Juan Anguiano found shot to death on Benz-Engleman Road Friday

SAN ANTONIO – Juan Anguiano was shot and killed Friday, and that is all his family knows.

Now, his loved ones are asking why someone would want him dead.

Christina Oliva said it wasn't until Saturday afternoon that she found out her son, Juan, or as she called him J.J., was shot and killed.

"(The investigator said) Your son, Juan Anguiano, was murdered and I said, ‘What do you mean murdered?’"

Oliva said she had just seen her son on Thursday night.

On Friday morning authorities found his body on Benz-Engleman Road.

"There was nothing that signified anything that he was in danger we don't know, you know," said Oliva. "But, I beg anybody who knows anything about my son, J.J., to come up and get these bad people off the street. We don't know why anyone would want to kill him. It's so ugly. It wasn't just one shot. It was five, six shots."

Oliva said J.J. was very loving, very kind and was always helping people.

She also said she's going to miss his "big hugs."

"I just see him. Even right now," Oliva said. "(Him saying,) "Hi Mama!," He called me, Mama. "I love you."

Oliva's friend, Toni Araiza, said she feels Oliva's pain and decided to donate a plot so, Oliva can bury her son.

"I was devastated," said Araiza. "I know how it feels because I lost my daughter and I know what she feels because she lost her son now."

So far, no arrests have been made.

Investigators are still looking into whether Anguiano died on the scene or if someone dumped his body there.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at 210-335-TIPS.
