WILSON COUNTY, Texas –
A house, an RV and a shed were destroyed Friday in a fire in Wilson County.
It appears the fire started in the RV, at Long Creek Drive and Ranch Drive, authorities said.
People in the area reported hearing a loud explosion before the fire was reported. By the time crews arrived, the RV was engulfed in flames.
The blaze spread quickly to some grass behind the RV, which eventually caused the home and shed to catch fire.
But the damage could have been a lot worse, officials said.
"The problem is, there were too many structures within a close vicinity of it,” said Edwin Baker, the Wilson County fire marshal. “Some of the units responding had to stop to get out the grass fire to prevent other units from catching on fire."
Crews from Wilson County Emergency Services and Bexar County Emergency Services had to work quickly to get the situation under control.
There’s no word on a damage estimate.
