SAN ANTONIO – Javier Salazar, the public information officer for the San Antonio Police Department, has filed the initial paperwork to campaign to be the next sheriff of Bexar County.
Salazar filed the paperwork to appoint a campaign treasurer on Oct. 13. He chose his father to serve in the role.

Candidates cannot officially file to run for sheriff until Nov. 14.
Three other candidates have begun the filing process. They are Ninan Mathews, Andy Lopez and current Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau.
