Kevin Wolff won't step down after DWI arrest says ‘I made the stupid decision'

Precinct 3 commissioner arrested Sunday morning

SAN ANTONIO – For the first time since he was arrested on drunken driving charges early Sunday morning, Precinct 3 Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff publicly discussed the case Wednesday.

“I’m not proud of what I’ve done and I make no excuses,” Wolff told reporters during a news conference outside the commissioner’s court courtroom. “I screwed up.”

Wolff was arrested after he collided with two cars at a fast food restaurant.

During Wednesday’s news conference he repeated what he told reporters Sunday.

“I made the stupid decision to mix alcohol, high blood pressure, anti-anxiety medications as well as the sleeping pill Ambien,” he said.

Asked about the police report indicating that he was wearing boxers and no shoes Wolff’s answer tracked many other answers.

“I don’t have any recollection of that time, there’s very little that I remember,” he said.

“I’m disappointed in myself and I want to express my sincere apologies to my wife, my daughter, my colleagues on Commissioners Court and my constituents,” Wolff said.

He said that he plans to enter a plea of no contest to the charges and let the judicial system take its course.

The punishment range he is facing runs from probation to up to a year in jail, depending on his blood alcohol level that night.  He said that will not be available for several weeks.

The commissioner said that he has no plans to resign his position.
