Man arrested after deadly road rage shooting on city's Southwest Side

Chris Gomez, 54, has been charged with murder

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have identified the man charged in a fatal road rage shooting on the city's Southwest Side.

Chris Gomez, 55, has been arrested and charged with murder.

According to Sgt. Jesse Salame, a spokesman for SAPD, witnesses at the scene told officers that the road rage incident began while on Loop 410. Both vehicles involved exited to Ray Ellison Drive and eventually stopped at a red traffic light.

That's when, Salame said, Gomez allegedly exited his vehicle and tapped the driver side window of the victim's car before shooting the victim in the head.

Police said Gomez then fled the scene. Multiple tips led police to a home where they arrested Gomez without incident.

At this time the name of the victim is not known.
