Man shot at San Antonio car wash

Domingo Pena shot 3 times; Raymond Zapata arrested in shooting at 3926 South Zarzamora St.

San Antonio police have made an arrest after a 48-year-old man was shot inside a stall at a car wash early Monday on the city's Southwest Side.

The victim, identified as Domingo Pena, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition following the shooting at 2 a.m. at 3926 South Zarzamora St.

Pena was shot three times and was laying beside his sport utility vehicle in the stall, police said. The victim was able to tell police that he was approached by two men in a car. One of the men then shot him, police said.

"He was able to provide very good details about the vehicle and the suspects to officers, and with that information, they were able to find not only the vehicle, but one of the two suspects involved," said San Antonio Police spokesperson Sandy Gutierrez.

Police arrested 20-year-old Raymond Zapata Jr. in connection with the shooting. Zapata was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on $75,000 bond. He also had three outstanding warrants, police said.

At least nine shell casings were found at the scene, police said.

San Antonio police were still searching for a second suspect at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
