Man wounded in leg in early morning drive-by shooting, police say

Shooting occurred around 4 a.m. in 400 block of Pruitt Ave

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating after a man was found shot in the leg early Wednesday morning.

The shooting was reported around 4 a.m. in the 400 block of Pruitt Avenue, not far from Midway Avenue and just south of downtown near Interstate 35 and Nogalitos Street.

According to police, the man shot said he was walking down the street when a silver car drove past a couple of times just before the driver screamed something and fired at him.

The victim was shot in the calf and walked to the corner of Midway Avenue and Alvarez Place, where police and paramedics found him. He was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and is expected to be OK. 

At this time, police have not released a description of either the suspect or the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
