SAN ANTONIO –
FUN FACTS:
- Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of three missions that was moved from East Texas in 1731.
- Was first moved to what is present day Nacogdoches County, but later moved to San Antonio River Valley because it failed to thrive.
- The current church had to undergo a stabilization project.
- A larger church was to be built, but was never completed. The unfinished building still stands in ruins today.
- In 2012, water was restored to the San Juan Acequia, and in 2013 the first crop was sown on the original farm fields.
