CIBOLO, Texas – An early-morning head-on wreck involving a truck and a bus on Interstate 10 in Cibolo Saturday killed three people and left one man injured, police said.
The Cibolo Police Department identified the victims as Gloria Gonzales, 43, of Seguin, Matthew Williams, 34, of Seguin, and John Gonzales, 26, of San Antonio.
"She's the ideal mom everybody wants," Ryan Young said of his mother Gloria.
The family is now holding on tightly to a lifetime of memories after the mother of four was was killed when the truck she and two others were riding in crashed head-on with a commercial passenger bus about 4:25 a.m.
"Anyone that knows my family personally knows that we started from the bottom and literally came all the way up because of her," Young said. "She had a real big heart."
Gloria Gonzales and Williams were dating, the family said. All three victims were ejected from a Dodge pickup truck that somehow crossed from the eastbound lanes to the westbound lanes of I-10 near FM 465, causing the wreck.
Investigators haven't been able to determine who was driving the pickup truck at the time of the crash. It took crews about 10 hours to clear the scene.
While loved ones begin thinking about how to put Gloria to rest, her son asks people not take anything for granted.
"It could've been anyone. It could've been anyone's mother. It could've been anyone's kid, and you just never know when it's going to be your turn or your loved ones turn," Young said.
The family is using fundraising efforts to help pay for the funeral.
A Cibolo police sergeant at the accident scene told KSAT 12 the driver of the passenger bus suffered a leg injury and underwent surgery at Northeast Methodist Hospital. He is expected to be OK.
