Grace Guerrero said she talks to her sons every day, so on Monday after not hearing from her son, Armando Guerrero, 23, since Saturday evening, she and another one of her sons went looking for him at his home in the 1800 block of Dawson Street.
"I got worried, just went to go make sure he was OK. And he wasn't OK,” she said.
Grace found Armando in a bedroom where it looked like he had been shot in the head.
"He was just laying there," she said. "He looked so asleep."
Armando was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office said he was killed by shots to the head and chest.
When she saw him lying there, Grace said she knew her son was gone.
"I knew something was wrong before I even got there, before I even walked in his house," she said. "I already knew."
Grace said her son had four children and had a good heart and loved his family.
Police aren't sure when Armando was killed or how many people were involved, but they believe it happened at his home.
When his family got to the house, the door was shut but unlocked.
"The door not being forced open indicates the victim may have known the individual that came into his home," said Officer Doug Greene, San Antonio police spokesman.
As police search for Armando Guerrero's killer, his mother said she has faith the person will be found.
"God will take care of (the) situation," Grace said. "Leave it in God's hands. He'll take care of it."
Police are asking anyone with information on the murder to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867.
