SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing another man last Friday.
Investigators said a tip from a KSAT 12 News viewer helped them track the suspect down.
After the shooting, a viewer sent KSAT a shot video clip of the suspect’s truck leaving the scene of the crime. That clip helped investigators track down 41-year-old Jesse Salinas.
Salinas is charged with the murder of 23-year-old Brandon James. The shooting happened on Culebra Road near Selene Drive, just inside Loop 1604.
Police said the video sent in by the KSAT viewer led to even more clues, which in turn led them to Salinas.
San Antonio police spokesman Officer Doug Greene said the community has been a huge help in bringing grieving families justice for their loss in some homicide cases.
"The community here in SA has really stepped up in calling us with information, providing any kind of video,” he said. “We ask the community, no matter how small it is, please call us and tell us, which happened in this particular case. Bring him into custody.”
Salinas did not confess to the shooting, but detectives said they believe they have enough evidence to connect him to the crime.
Police believe Salinas and James knew each other, but Salinas did not provide a motive for the shooting.
