KYLE, Texas – A 5-year-old girl is dead and the child's mother is in custody after an assault in Kyle, the Hays County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
According to a news release, around 12:50 p.m. Thursday, deputies received a call about an assault at a home on Willow Terrace in the Green Pastures subdivision.
When deputies arrived, they found a 58-year-old man stabbed multiple times. The news release said the man told deputies that a woman inside the home had stabbed him. Deputies said Hays County SWAT entered the home to find the 5-year-old child deceased.
Deputies discovered Villanueva had stabbed and partially mutilated her daughter, identified as Giovanna Hernandez, prior to stabbing the man in his home, the sheriff's office said.
The girls' mother, identified as Krystle Villanueva 24, has since been placed in custody and taken to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office; the injured man, identified as Eustorgio Arellano-Uresti, was taken to an area hospital. He was treated and released.
Villanueva was charged with capital murder, a capital felony, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
The sheriff's office said in a release Villanueva was magistrated by a judge who set the bond for the capital murder at $800,000 cash or surety and $300,000 for the aggravated assault charge. Villanueva remained incarcerated at the Hays County Jail on Friday.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
