Tricentennial year commemoration includes events combined for first time ever

SAN ANTONIO – For the first time ever, San Antonio's Diez y Seis de Septiembre Commemoration and kickoff to Hispanic Heritage Month will feature three signature events combined into one weekend for a grand celebration, in addition to almost 30 official events taking place through October.

The two-day celebration on Sept. 15 and Sept. 16, will feature the Dieciseis de Septiembre Parade, El Grito San Antonio and Fiestas Patrias.

"This year of our Tricentennial, we celebrate San Antonio's history and we also celebrate the traditions and cultures that have helped our city become what it is today," said District 1 Councilman Roberto C. Treviño, who is also Honorary Diez y Seis Commission chair. "Celebrating these Diez y Seis events together at the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month provides a cultural and educational experience for the residents and visitors of our city."
