SAN ANTONIO – After a 19-season run with the Spurs, Tim Duncan is being honored by Mayor Ivy Taylor and the city of San Antonio.
He will be honored Thursday by Taylor, who is declaring it Tim Duncan Day.

“Tim may not be comfortable with all the attention, but I do think he deserves it,” Taylor said. “Besides being one of the greatest players of all time, he’s also an outstanding role model. He taught us how to work hard, win and remain humble."

The city of San Antonio said Duncan, who had five NBA championships and two league MVP awards, represented the city with integrity, teamwork and professionalism.
A banner was hung at City Hall to show the city's appreciation, and Taylor is asking fans to sport their Duncan jerseys on Thursday in a show of appreciation.

"He truly fits the definition of champion, and what better way to honor our most decorated champion than by declaring July 21 as Tim Duncan Day? It will allow fans everywhere to show him just how much he means to us, to our city and to the sports world,” Taylor said
