Tim Duncan's post-retirement plans may involve working on cars

Retired Spur owns several Black Jack Speed Shops in SA

SAN ANTONIO – Though many Spurs fans are still reeling from Tim Duncan's retirement announcement, they may be able to spot the recently retired power forward at one of his Black Jack Speed Shops around town.

At one of the locations on Huebner Road, employees and customers alike are looking forward to seeing more of Duncan in the shop.

"You'll actually see him out there inside of the shop getting his hands dirty and looking around at vehicles," said Paul Wickern, a frequent customer, who said he's seen Duncan there more than a dozen times.

Wickern said Duncan is happy to talk with anyone who comes into the shop.

"This is his baby, so he's in here [a lot]," Wickern said.

Getting work done on a car at Black Jack Speed Shop is a special experience. The employees encourage customers to learn about cars and be part of the process.

Employees said Duncan has a passion for customized cars and that he will probably work on customers' cars himself now that he's retired.

"Now that he's available to work, we'll be working on some cool projects in the near future, I'm sure," said Jason Pena, a partner in Black Jack Speed Shop, who said he's looking forward to having his friend back.
