SAN ANTONIO – Showers and some thunderstorms are moving through San Antonio early Monday morning.

Thunder, lightning, and rounds of heavy rainfall will likely make the morning commute difficult, meteorologist Sarah Spivey says. Please exercise caution on the roadways.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service is reporting that the Flash Flood Warning will continue for San Antonio TX, Universal City TX, Converse TX until 12:15 PM CDT.

UPDATE: As heavy rainfall continues south of town, there are now at least 17 roads closed around San Antonio, the National Weather Service reports.

UPDATE: Northwest Vista College main campus closed due to weather and power outage. Closure is all day until further notice.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service is reporting rainfall totals for San Antonio International Airport is 2.80 inches.

UPDATE: The San Antonio Fire Department as of 8:38 am has responded to 15 incidents for vehicles stalled in high water but no needed rescues so far. Five structure fires have been related to lightning, SAFD said.

UPDATE: Officials in Leon Valley are reporting severe flooding areas Monday morning. The Leon Valley Fire Department is evacuating low-lying area and an emergency shelter has been opened at John Marshall High School. Seven homes have been evacuated, officials said.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service says while the heaviest rainfall is now east of I-35 towards Gonzales more is building back to Hondo.

UPDATE: CPS Energy is reporting 458 outages affecting 15,500 customers. The National Weather Service says a Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Hondo TX, Lakehills, Castroville until 11 AM CDT.

UPDATE: Lightning, heavy rain, street flooding possible as storms move SE. A Flash Flood Warning including San Antonio TX, Universal City TX, Converse TX in effect until 10:15 AM CDT.
