SAN ANTONIO – It is not your average school bus. Papa's Burgers Restaur-Not is decked out with tables, benches, TV screens and pictures of rock legends.
The entire concept was put together by Papa's Burgers owner Robert Walker as a way to honor San Antonio police.
"With everything going on right now in the media and not being very positive, this is kind of our way of showing that our community stands by our officers," Walker said.
Police officers did not take long to line up and were thankful for the free meal.
"Being in San Antonio, where the community has a really good relationship with us, when these things happen, it's amazing," San Antonio police Officer Michael Ross said.
Tuesday's event was the first time the bus was out in the community but it won't be the last. Walker said he plans to get several more buses and feed the homeless.
"We plan on going out in the community and actually working with the city and working with the homeless, and bringing out some fresh caldo and hot chocolate," Walker said.
The bus will soon also be open to the public, but the heart and motivation behind its creation is to give back.
"It's really what it's all about: Taking care of each other," Walker said.
