SAN ANTONIO – Angela Salazar has a place to call home and says Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio made that possible.
The organization is celebrating a milestone, helping families just like Salazar's for decades.
Salazar has been in the Habitat home for nearly two years.
"I never thought I would be a homeowner again," Salazar said. "(It) felt really good to own a home again."
She said it was a labor of love. Salazar, along with volunteers, family and friends, all pitched in to build her house.
Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio has been helping people like Salazar for 40 years.
"(We) sell homes (for) 0 percent interest," SA Habitat for Humanity Vice President Stephanie Wiese said. "(We) don't profit from transactions. We help provide stability for families in need of home ownership."
Salazar and her three sons are happy to call their new house home.
Habitat for Humanity is one of many organizations benefiting from our upcoming KSAT community event Big Give SA. The 24-hour day of giving is May 3.
