Recall Roundup: Lumber Liquidators to continue to test some Chinese-made flooring

Customers encouraged to request test kits

SAN ANTONIO – Federal regulators' investigation into Lumber Liquidators and some Chinese-made laminate flooring is closed as the company agreed to not resume sales of the product and to continue testing. Customers who have the flooring are also encouraged to request test kits.

The actions come because of allegations last year that some of the laminate flooring imported from China contained high levels of cancer-causing formaldeyde. The Virginia-based company stopped selling the flooring last year.

Late Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Production Safety Commission said  Lumber Liquidators tested the air quality in 17,000 households and none had formaldehyde above federal guidelines.

Customers who installed the Chinese-made flooring from February 2012 through May 2015  should not rip it out, the CPSC  said.  Insteady, they should contact Lumber Liquidators to request a free test kit.

The company can be contacted  by calling 800-366-4204 or by visiting http://www.lumberliquidators.com/11/testkit.

If elevated levels of formaldehyde are found, Lumber Liquidators will do more extensive testing and has agreed to provide any required remediation.
