SAN ANTONIO – After 71 reports of internal components burning or catching fire, GE Appliances has recalled 222,000 top-loading clothes washers.
The recall involves three models of GE Profile high-efficiency washers: WPGT9350, WPGT9360 and WPGT9150.
Three reported fires resulted in property damage, but no injuries.
The washers were sold at major retailers, including Best Buy, Lowe's, Sears and The Home Depot from June 2003 to October 2011.
Consumers should unplug the machine and contact GE Appliances for a free repair.

Whirlpool has recalled more than 15,000 microwave hood combinations after three home or kitchen fires.

Black+Decker recalled 560,000 electric blower/vacuum/mulchers because the fan cover can unexpectedly unlatch. Four people suffered finger cuts.
The models involved are BV5600, BV6000 and BV6600. They had been sold since May 2013.

More than 50,000 Babies 'R' Us pacifier clips are also being recalled. The spring mechanism can break and baby can choke on small parts.
The clips came in an assortment of colors and characters like monsters, monkeys, giraffes and owls. The model number to look out for is 5F6237F.
Parents should take the pacifiers back to Babies 'R' Us or Toys 'R' Us for a refund. They were sold from February 2015 to April 2016.
