LA VERNIA, Texas – Several La Vernia High School students were arrested Thursday on campus in connection with hazing incidents, police said.
The students were charged with sexual assault, police said.

According to a news release, the La Vernia Police Department received "an outcry of hazing involving high school student athletes."
Several students "gave forensic interviews with the Children's Alliance of South Texas," the statement said.
Police launched an investigation after the results of the interviews "confirmed evidence (that) a crime had been committed."
More arrests are expected to be made, police said.
In a statement, La Vernia Independent School District superintendent Jose Moreno said that "the district is aware of the complaint and is fully cooperating with the authorities."
Moreno also said, "Rest assured that every precautionary measure has been taken to ensure that our students are supervised and safe."
