VON ORMY, Texas – Hundreds of students at Southwest Independent School District will soon be walking through the halls of a new high school.
Southwest Legacy High School, the district's second high school, is the first that's been built south of Highway 90 in 40 years.
The new high school, which is set to open for the 2017-18 school year, will house about 1,400 students but will not have a senior class.
"Southwest Legacy does not replace Southwest High School," Southwest Legacy High School Principal Anita Chavera said. "Southwest High School will continue to operate with about 2,000 students. Currently, our seniors that were at Southwest High School will remain there. They will have a senior class and graduate as Southwest Dragons."
Southwest Legacy High School will be the home of the Titans. Their colors are green, black and gold.
