“I’m extremely honored to join the Devils River family. I was blown away by their products and the love and pride that goes into making them. I couldn’t be more excited to contribute to the growth of the company,” Bautista said in a news release.
Bautista got his start in the entertainment industry with wrestling and later starred in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, “Dune,” “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and “Knock at the Cabin.” He also acted in and produced “My Spy” and its sequel. He retired from the WWE in 2019.
Devils River Whiskey hasn’t been in the spotlight as long, but the brand is continuing to grow.
The news release states that since it was introduced in 2017, it has expanded to 36 states and five countries.
The brand has eight expressions ranging from bourbon, rye and barrel-strength to flavored whisky, including coffee and cinnamon flavors.
The release states the bourbon is distilled using water sources on the Devils River in southwest Texas. Proceeds from every bottle sold go to the Devils River Conservancy.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Dave’s caliber as an investor and partner,” CEO and co-founder Mike Cameron said in the release. “Dave’s involvement in our brand is a major step toward Devils River Whiskey leading the diversification of bourbon culture and elevating Texas whiskey.”
