Hello parents, teachers and students! Happy Friday!

History was made this week as Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday and Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first female vice president, making her the highest-ranking female elected official in U.S. history. She is now the first African American and first Asian American vice president ever, so no matter your party affiliation, it was a big deal for both parents and children alike.

In honor of the inauguration, we have a quiz to test your knowledge about the ceremonies.

In this week’s KSAT Kids’ spotlight, we highlight high school sophomore Reagan Bolt, who won a $4,000 scholarship after entering artwork to the 2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Western Art Contest. Her work is currently on display at the Briscoe Western Art Museum through January and will then be moved to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo grounds to be shown during the event. Well done, Reagan!

In addition to the inauguration, it was also National Penguin Day on Wednesday, so SeaWorld San Antonio released a video of two adorable male penguins who are taking care of a chick of a completely different species of penguin. It’s a must-see. And if that’s not enough penguin for you, don’t forget to check out KSAT Kids’ 24/7 livestream of the penguin exhibit at SeaWorld, and you can do that any time on any device for free!

Meteorologist Kaiti Blake is back with another science lab this week, this time using lemons to help learn about chemistry and acids and bases. Click here or scroll below to learn more.

For students still seeking additional schooling help, the San Antonio Public Library continues to offer resources to help with their lessons. We also have a list of places offering free Wi-Fi for students and their families.

Have a great weekend everyone!
