SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio prides itself in having some of the best Tex-Mex food in the country.
What makes it so good is the history and tradition behind many of the recipes.
At Nicha's Comida Mexicana it is all about tradition and family.
It all started in 1977 when the Garcia Family opened a restaurant next to a car wash on the south side of San Antonio.
The started doing well and eventually the car wash was torn down to allow for more space for the restaurant.
The business was named after the matriarch of the Garcia family.
"My mom's name is Dionisia, which is an unusual Spanish name," owner Arthur Garcia said. "When they were kids her brothers would call her Nicha for short because it was easier to say."
As far as the menu at Nicha's you can find the Tex-Mex classics like enchiladas, fajitas, tacos and tortilla soup.
"We sell a lot of tortilla soup, enchiladas, our fajitas our well known," Garcia said.
With almost 40 years in business and now with three locations in San Antonio, the Garcia Family said they hope to be a part of San Antonio for many more years to come.
"Hopefully you'll feel at home," Garcia said.
