SAN ANTONIO – Gilbert Rodriguez and the Blue Notes were known in the 60's and 70's for their Tejano Music. Now Rodriguez is known for his food at "Gilbert's Mexican Restaurant" at 8161 Latigo Drive.
The restaurant opened in 1982 and since then, Rodriguez has collected many photos and posters of famous visitors who have stopped by. That is why some call it the "Tejano Hard Rock Cafe."
"You have never seen a restaurant with so many pictures," Gilbert Rodriguez said. "All the Tejano stars come here."
With help from the same cooks for more than 20 years, his brother and his granddaughter, the restaurant prides itself on its service and hospitality.
"We put our heart and soul into (serving) everybody that comes in here," Ashley Rodriguez said.
KSAT 12 fans told us on Facebook to try the restaurant's "Javi Special."
We asked and you gave us suggestions. Our first Flavor Fav on local Mexican food favorites had us checking out Nicha's Comida Mexicana.

The famous enchiladas are filed with carne guisada; in addition, the menudo is called the best by many customers.
Even though he doesn't perform full time anymore, Gilbert Rodriguez can still be caught belting out a song.
