18-wheeler jackknifes and rolls over after hitting tire, vehicle

Accident occurred on two-way access road of I-10 near Trainer Hale Rd

SAN ANTONIO – An 18-wheeler has jackknifed and rolled over after first hitting a tire that had fallen off another truck, Bexar County deputies said Thursday.

The accident occurred on the two-way access road of Interstate 10 near Trainer Hale Road in East Bexar County.

According to a Bexar County deputy the big rig then hit another vehicle that was headed in the opposite direction on the access road.

At least one person was seen being loaded into an ambulance and taken away. The deputy said he wasn't sure if the big rig driver was hurt.

A hazardous chemical was leaking from the truck, deputies said.

There is a slow down of traffic on the westbound main lanes of I-10 in the area.

The deputy said the driver of the truck that lost the tire kept going but was supposed to be coming back to the scene.
