HEB Grilled Flat Iron Steak

Grilled Flat Iron Steaks with Cactus Salsa Verde

Prep time:  25 minutes    Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1-2lbs Flat Iron Steaks
  • 1 (16oz) jar of Nopales (cactus) drained & chopped.
  • 1 bunch or more fresh green onions, white ends trimmed off, chopped small.
  • 1 largeJalapeno pepper, seeded and minced.
  • 1 cup Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • ¼ cup vilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 ea. juice of fresh limes
  • As needed Kosher salt and black pepper as needed for seasoning.

Instructions

1. Preheat Grill to 350F.

2. Allow steaks to come to room temp.  Season with salt and cracked pepper and spray the grill with non-stick spray to keep meat from sticking.

3. Sear on the grill for about 4-5min per side (depending on thickness) and remove when steaks are cooked to your desired doneness. (140F internal temp is desired) 

4. In a bowl combine the nopales, green onions, jalapeno, roma tomatoes, garlic and lime juice. Season to taste with salt and pepper and allow to sit to allow flavors to meld. (30 min is recommended).

5. Serve the steaks with the cactus salsa over the top.
