'Vibrant, loving;' family remembers 5-year-old killed in car crash

Lilliana Orona, 5, killed Saturday afternoon

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio family is still coming to grips with the sudden loss of 5-year-old Lilliana Orona.

She was described as vibrant with a loving personality.

"She was always trying to help my dad around the house,” Kelsea Raborg, Orona’s aunt, said.

The child was killed on Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Austin Highway. Her parents and two  brothers all survived the impact.

"She was just such a giving a little girl, she would get in trouble at school but it wasn't like she was misbehaving, she was up helping others with their work," Radborg said.

Police said a Porsche going southbound on Austin Highway swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting another car, but instead of avoiding a collision, the Porsche ended up crashing head on into the vehicle in which the Orono family was traveling.

"We are completely devastated," Raborg said.

The tragic reality of life without Lilliana has yet to fully sink in for the family.

"We don't even want to accept it, we keep telling ourselves, ‘It's a nightmare. We're going to wake up eventually.’"

The others in the car were still recovering in the hospital from the physical wounds the crash caused.

The little girl, a lover of the holidays, already had her Halloween costume picked out. She was going to be Wonder Woman.

"We're going to have to keep waking up with this every day, excepting the fact that she's gone," Raborg said.

San Antonio police said that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, and they don’t anticipate filing any charges.
