SAN ANTONIO – Lots of complaints are filed about conditions in San Antonio apartments and now there is a lesson for all renters on how to get action to solve a problem.
Sewage water began flooding Natoree Ferrell's apartment and she documented the damage with videos and photos.

"It's 6:44 in the morning and my house is flooded," Ferrell said on the video. "It smells like a sewer in here."
Ferrell's carpet was soaked, her kitchen was wet and so was the bathroom. On the video, she did not hold back.
"This is my bathroom and there's like little particles of feces floating around," Ferrell said.
She also took photographs.
The Wood Hollow Apartments fixed the leak and cleaned the carpet, but she wanted more, so she contacted the KSAT-12 Defenders.
"All this is still sewage and mold," Ferrell said. The carpet was shampooed, but Ferrell wasn't satisfied.
"At least change the padding because it's still there, it's still contaminated," Ferrell said.
The Defenders got in touch with the apartment management and they responded.
Not only did they fix up her apartment, they gave her other options as well. They replaced the padding where it got wet and also added sheet vinyl in the hallway and new bathroom flooring.
In an email, Tom Welch added her other options were to "transfer to another unit of the same style and we would waive any transfer fees or (option) two, she could give a 30-day notice to vacate."
She decided to vacate and said the video and photos helped her case.
"With my faith in God and just trusting him everything happened and now they're letting me out of my lease with no broken lease," Ferrell said.
The apartment recommends that residents put all problems in writing and present them to the apartment and have the office or staff sign for them.
