According to the website, Duran will oversee the financial and administrative side of the agency.

Duran resigned as SAISD superintendent last week after a history of not seeing eye-to-eye with the board.

He was given a new position within SAISD to oversee a future bond issue and kept his salary at more than $260,000.

Duran didn't comment on his new position.

He is expected to begin working in Austin on April 1.

According to SAISD spokeswoman Leslie Price, Duron's contract with the district ends at the end of March and he begins at TEA on April 1. Once he starts, Price said, he will not be paid by the district, as per the terms of the voluntary separation agreement.
