SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County Commissioners on Thursday were presented the new precinct maps for the upcoming primary election and some of the new precincts have no one living in them.

Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen said the law prevents precincts from having more than one congressional represetative, state representative and state senator.  She had because of that, new precinct lines had to be drawn.

"In some instances, we have some 30 feet of maybe two blocks that we've had to make precincts that won't have anybody in it, " Callanen said.  "But it had to be done.  We have a number that have one.  Some that have three.  Some that have five.  It will be challenging."

Callanen said Bexar County now has 661 precincts, up from 622.

The primary is currently scheduled for May 29th, but delays are still possible.  However, Callanen said that the Supreme Court has ruled that the latest Texas can hold a primary is June 26th.
