On Monday, State Senator Leticia Van de Putte presented current owner, Mark Penner with the award.

"It's an honor. It really is an honor to be part of this history. We've been here for 96 years in the same location. And with my nephew and my son I'm sure we'll be here for another many, many, many, many many more years," Mark Penner said.

The Texas Treasure Business Award was created under Senate Bill 920 during the 79th Texas Legislative Session. The award honors businesses that have been in existence in Texas for more than 50 years and are still creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.
