NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A New Braunfels mother has been arrested after police said she left her twin babies home alone over the weekend.
New Braunfels police say Yanelly Jimenez, 36, is charged with two counts of abandoning or endangering a child, after her 15-month-old twins were left unsupervised.
The incident happened at the Langtry Village Apartments in 1500 block of North Business 35.
Police said they initially received a call about a runaway who was believed to be inside the apartment, but when they got there, they instead found Jimenez's two children
Police said the boys were lying in separate cribs, sweating and without food.
"We were just really shocked," said neighbor Andrew Morin. "To see an officer standing outside for that long, and we went over and he seemed like a really nice gentleman, it was just kind of weird to find out what was going on."
Police said the twins were at the home for about an hour before Jimenez returned with her 5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter.
Jimenez told police she had taken them shopping for clothes.
Jimenez has since posted her $10,000 bond and has been released.
The children have been released into their father's custody, who was at work at the time of the incident.
