SHINER, Texas ā Deputies in Lavaca County said the father of a 5-year-old rape victim killed his child's suspected attacker on Saturday.
On June 9, witnesses said Jesus Mora Flores, 43, took a 5-year-old girl to a secluded area. The witness told the victim's father, who rushed to the scene, calling for his child. The father came upon Flores attacking his daughter, and pulled Flores off his child and delivered several blows to the man's head and neck, killing him.

Emergency medical responders said they found Flores with his pants and underwear down and his genitals exposed.
"The physical evidence at the scene appeared to substantiate the father's account," Sheriff Micah Harmon said. "Despite the other factors involved this is still a homicide investigation."
Harmon said he thinks the child's father was remorseful and did not intend to kill Flores. The father was not arrested.
"This case has been very traumatizing on the child, her father, and his entire family," Harmon said.
After meeting with Harmon and investigators from the Texas Rangers, Lavaca County District Attorney Heather McMinn said the sheriff made the right decision in not arresting the father. McMinn said the death investigation should be sent to the grand jury as soon as possible.
