Frack tanks catch fire in Dimmit County

Several road blocks on Highway 83 near Catarina

SAN ANTONIO – An oil fire broke out early Thursday morning at an Anadarko Oil company site just south of Catarina.

No personnel were injured.

"All personnel are accounted for and all personnel are safe. (There were) no injuries reported," said David Doland, operations superintendent for Anadarko Oil.

The fire started around 7 a.m. Thursday morning when workers were transferring oil from a storage tank to a tanker truck.

After all the workers were accounted for, the Dimmit County Fire Department was called and the site was shut down.

"The wells on location have been safely shut in and the wells are secure," Doland said.

The Dimmit County Fire Department was assisted by Carrizo Springs, Asherton and La Pryor fire departments.

Doland said all the proper authorities were called, including air quality and the Texas Railroad Commission.

As of Thursday night, the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
