Stone Oak standoff ends in 3 arrests

SAPD: Far North side home site of drug cartel money laundering operation

SAN ANTONIO – A standoff on the city's far North side ends Tuesday morning with the arrests of three men, San Antonio police said.

A SWAT team was called to the 300 block of Joshua Way in Stone Oak around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, where police say three men broke into a home and assaulted a woman.

Two women were inside the home at the time but both got away, police said.

Police said several hours later, all three men walked out of the home and were arrested.

The man who owns that home was arrested back in February after an investigation by a task force that included the IRS, the DEA and San Antonio police.

According to police, Antonio Pena had been laundering money for a Mexican drug cartel.

Police say his son and two other men broke into the home this morning because they believed Pena's girlfriend -- who still lives there -- gave information that led to his arrest.

But even with the arrest of the three suspects from Tuesday morning's break-in and standoff, neighbors are concerned about what could happen next.

"The drug cartel could come in and hit the wrong house. I mean, who knows? We're just very upset and, I guess, concerned that we do not have the security we really obviously need in here," Stephanie McCrary, who lives in the Champions Ridge neighborhood, said.\
