BOERNE, Texas – Election results for the Kendall County Precinct 1 county commissioner's seat keep dragging on.
A count of provisional ballots on Tuesday morning gave candidates some hope for a winner but it turned out the 7 ballots received didn't have any impact on the outcome of the election.
The results stand at 623 votes each for candidates Charlie Boyd and Mike Fincke.
"It's stressful, but it's a mental game at this point," said Boyd. "We've done everything we could possibly do."
"I've tried not to let that get to me but it has been difficult because of the process of this dragging out all year," said Fincke.
On Thursday morning, election officials will double check votes for authenticity.
Then, on Monday, they'll likely have a recount.
If it's still a tie, a roll of the dice will determine the winner.
Toni Anne Dashiell, Kendall County GOP chair, said each candidate will roll one die and whoever rolls the highest number wins the election. If both candidates roll the same number, they will roll again until there is a winner.
Dashiell said the circumstances have resulted in a lesson on the way the election system works, and how every vote counts.
"When you have over 1,200 votes and you come out right to a tie, it's pretty unusual but what does it mean? It means that every single vote counts and that is so important for people to get out and vote," she said.
The roll of the dice is scheduled to take place at the Old Kendall County Counthouse at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
