SAN ANTONIO – Robbery suspect Calvin Murry, 34, has been arrested in connection with a pair of hotel robberies, including one where San Antonio police said he borrowed a pen from the clerk to write a demand note.
San Antonio police said a clerk at the Staybridge Suites on Hoefgen Street called to report the robbery Monday afternoon.
San Antonio police said the clerk told officers a man had walked up, asked to borrow a marker, then returned a few minutes later with a handwritten note saying, "Give me the money from the drawer or I'll kill you."
The clerk said she refused at first, but then complied, handing over cash.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated later that evening, officers responded to a robbery in progress at Hotel Indigo on Alamo Street. They arrested Murry at the scene.
Detectives compared surveillance pictures from both businesses and determined Murry was the man behind both robberies, the affidavit stated. Murry is charged with robbery.
