SAN ANTONIO – UTSA student Joshua Wells is accused of pulling off a pair of armed robberies at The Shops at La Cantera on the Northwest Side.
San Antonio police said a mall security guard supplied them with a license plate number following the second robbery earlier this month, and it led them to Wells.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that a 21-year-old woman told police she was sitting on a bench at the mall on Oct. 19 when a man walked up, punched her in the face several times and stole her cell phone.
A few weeks later, on Nov. 3, police believe Wells pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at a child and stole a cell phone and iPad.
Police later found the gun in some bushes nearby, the affidavit stated. Detectives interviewed Wells Monday and he confessed to the crimes, the affidavit stated. He is charged with robbery.
