SAN ANTONIO – A chance meeting at a police station between a shooting victim and suspect, Larry Coleman, 36, has led to the arrest of Coleman.
Coleman was taken into custody Monday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, a 36-year-old man told San Antonio police detectives that Coleman is the man who shot him in the head Nov. 12.
The victim told police he had loaned his truck to Coleman, but Coleman refused to give it back.
The man said he took the vehicle anyway, using a spare key, then noticed Coleman was chasing him, firing a gun, the affidavit stated.
The truck owner had to be rushed to a hospital after being shot in the head, the affidavit stated.
The victim told police that while collecting personal items from the police department's property room, he noticed Coleman was there too, collecting items from an unrelated incident.
The affidavit stated that the victim identified Coleman as the man who shot him.
Police said Coleman had to show identification when he claimed his property.
Information from that paperwork helped them to track down Coleman, the affidavit stated.
