Suspect stuffed bolt cutters in pants, pulled knife on Home Depot worker

Robert Martinez, Jr., 48, charged with aggravated robbery

Robert Martinez, Jr., 48, is accused of stealing bolt cutters from a Home Depot store by stuffing them down his pants, then pulling a knife on an employee who tried to stop him.

San Antonio police arrested Martinez Wednesday on a charge of aggravated robbery.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the incident happened last Thursday at a Home Depot on SE Military Drive.

Police said surveillance cameras inside the store captured a man putting a pair of bolt cutters down his pants, then attempting to leave without paying, the affidavit stated.

When a worker tried to stop him at the door, the man pulled out a knife, winked at the worker and left, running to a getaway car, the affidavit stated.

Employees of the store were able to supply detectives with a license plate number for the car, and they used it to track down Martinez, the affidavit stated.
