SAN ANTONIO – Two men were hospitalized following a drilling rig fire north of Tilden in McMullen County.

According to the Tilden fire chief, the workers were performing maintenance on the rig when oil began to leak, and the fire began when they tried to stop it.

One of the workers was critically injured with burns on 70 percent of his body, fire officials said.

He was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment. His name has not been released.

The other worker was expected to recover. It was not immediately known what rig caught fire.
